Dr. Alvin “Trey” Perry III is a dual board-certified general surgeon and surgical critical care specialist with extensive experience caring for both routine and highly complex surgical conditions. After more than eight years serving as a trauma, critical care, and acute care surgeon across some of the largest trauma centers in the United States, he brings a depth of expertise in managing critically ill patients, emergency surgical conditions, and elective general surgery with precision and efficiency.

In addition to his full-time clinical work, Dr. Perry has practiced as a locum tenens surgeon across multiple states, broadening his exposure to diverse patient populations and healthcare systems. His approach combines technical excellence with calm, decisive leadership in high-acuity situations, while maintaining a strong commitment to individualized, patient-centered care.

Leadership & Contributions

Dr. Perry has played an active leadership role throughout his career, particularly in high-acuity hospital settings. While practicing at the region’s largest trauma center, he was named a Patient Safety Champion and chaired the Trauma and Emergency Medicine Committee. He also contributed to the Emergency Response and Preparedness Committee and the General, Vascular, and Thoracic Committees.

He was instrumental in advancing quality improvement initiatives, including the development of Acute Care Surgery and General Surgery Morbidity and Mortality Conferences—programs designed to enhance surgeon education and improve patient outcomes. In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Perry serves as an Assistant Professor at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM), contributing to the education and mentorship of future physicians.
