About Dr. Montgomery
Dr. Spencer Montgomery is a dual board-certified orthopaedic surgeon in both the United States and Canada, specializing in primary and complex hip and knee replacement. Fellowship trained in complex hip and knee reconstruction at the University of Toronto, he combines advanced surgical training with a detailed, mechanical understanding of how joints function.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Montgomery worked as a licensed auto mechanic — an experience that shaped his appreciation for precision, craftsmanship, and problem-solving. Today, he applies that same mindset to joint replacement, focusing on restoring alignment, stability, and smooth motion. As he often says, he “kept the toolbox — now he changes suspension on people instead of cars.”
He previously served as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he provided comprehensive hip and knee replacement care, taught residents and medical students, and managed complex revision and limb reconstruction cases.
Philosophy of Care
Dr. Montgomery believes that choosing a surgeon is a deeply personal decision. By listening carefully, applying current medical literature, and tailoring each surgical plan to the individual, he strives to deliver thoughtful, personalized care. He remains committed to continual learning, staying up to date on evolving techniques and technologies to ensure patients receive modern, evidence-based treatment. His goal is not just successful surgery — but helping people return to active, meaningful lives with improved function and reduced pain.
