Medical Director and Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. David Brown

After opening the very successful Idaho BMI in 2019, Dr. Brown founded Everest Surgical Institute in 2021.

The reason is simple. He wanted to take care of his patients in a new and better way, without letting daily politics or money get in the way. His background is just as impressive. Dr. Brown studied medicine at University of California, Davis and completed his surgical residency at Dartmouth, where he earned awards for his leadership, scholarship, and respect for human life.

Awards and experience aside, Dr. Brown is rooted in deep values from growing up on a 2,000 acre alfalfa farm with his parents and seven brothers and sisters. In fact, he still sees himself as a bit of a cowboy, blazing new trails in weight loss management.

His areas of expertise are bariatric surgery, revision bariatric surgery, nutrition and metabolism, ketogenic lifestyle, longevity, exercise science, and chronic metabolic disease.

Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgeon

Dr. Peter Killian

Dr. Killian is the leading sinus surgeon in Idaho. He received his degrees from California Polytechnic State University & Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

He completed an Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. He resigned his commission honorably as a full Navy Commander and completed a one year fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery at the California Sinus Centers in Atherton, CA.

He is committed to patients with nasal and sinus disorders because he knows what they are going through, having been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps while in medical school. The treatment and surgery he received changed his life, and motivated him to do for others what was done for him.

He joined Everest for that very opportunity, along with the supportive environment, state of the art technology, and low patient cost.

Knee Surgeon

Dr. Corbett Winegar

Dual fellowship-trained and board-certified, Dr. Winegar completed his residency at Wayne State University with an additional year at Thomas Jefferson University’s Rothman Institute. He’s worked nationwide as an orthopedic trauma surgeon and director.

"Be so good, you become indispensable." These were the words Dr. Winegar’s grandfather told him as a young boy working the family grocery stores in Utah. They’re words he’s never forgotten, and that motivated him to become an expert of our largest, most complex joint—the knee.

Knee pain can limit movement, sleep, mood—most aspects of life. So Dr. Winegar knows patients want someone dedicated to every detail of the knee. He enjoys the responsibility because of how good his patients eventually feel, especially at a facility like Everest that prioritizes excellence and patient experience.

When not improving knees, Dr. Winegar’s likely doing something recreational, from mountain biking and fly fishing to boating and dirt biking.
